Determining the one true god

by Paul Bovis

Created on: December 16, 2006   Last Updated: May 11, 2007

Born and raised a Christian I can only use Christian based references in determining the one true God. I have however eluded to parallel beliefs though sparsely, as I believe mankind has segregated the truth into many forms of understanding to suit varying populations interpretation through folklore which has expounded this truth to their way of thinking.

Ge 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Ge 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Why is it that man cannot accept that God is a being? Not in the likeness of man, but man in the sprit is the likeness of God (Let us make man in our image, after our likeness). Why is it so difficult to see or understand with the spiritual eye that we have been blessed with, yet functions in so few?

Adam used to walk with God in the garden, they used to share things and Adam would create names for the many things that the Lord was creating. Adam was able to do this because he was functioning in the Image of God and those around God, of whom it is presumed were Jesus and the Holy Spirit among others, were there from the beginning creating the pluralism in the scriptures.

We know not how long this partnership was in time, but it is clearly written that it happened. We also know that from Adam a rib was taken to clone the woman. A rib from his side, not from his head to rule a woman or from his foot to walk over her, but from his side that they may live and reign side by side as they carried out the work of their creator in love.

However we also know that sin was on the doorstep in the shape of satan who lured and tempted the woman to go against Gods instruction and equally Adam did the same thing. So what do we see next in the bible?

Ge 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the PRESCENCE of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Ge 3:10 And he said, I HEARD thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

I have capitalised a couple of words above the first being 'presence.' Now from walking in the garden with the Lord Adam now refers to God as presence, a presence is a spiritual term; does this not say things to you?
