The Internet highway has made parts of the world and business so much easier, affordable and accessible. If one has a business today, it is the norm to have a website. This opens the door for numerous opportunities for people who would like to work from home. Creating your own website can be challenging but worth the effort.

There are several tools that can help you get started. The most important tool you have is yourself. Do not underestimate any of the talents, skills, experiences or abilities you possess. The wonderful part about marketing yourself via the internet is that you are not limited by your shyness, disabilities or lack of millions. You can start your own online business for a nominal fee. Of course, research is important and available at your local bookstore or library. The Dummie books are always helpful and well laid out, not to mention, easy to understand. There just happens to be a Dummie book on designing websites.

There are also several websites with excellent tools to help you start your own online business. Doteasy.com, ebay.com, sellersourcebook.com and numerous other websites have simplified what was once an arduous task.

While there are several other wonderful opportunities on the web, there are also several crooks who would love to steal your social security number and credit card information, all the while making you believe your bank account will go from $0 to $60,000 in a matter of minutes. If you are the type of person who believes gold will fall in your lap quickly, be extra cautious. Your odds might be better if you play the lotto. Don't ever gamble your family's savings on any get rich quick schemes. As much as you may hate to admit, your parents were right, money does not grow on trees.

If you are not the entrepeneurial type, there are other internet avenues for you. Facebook.com and linkedin.com are just a couple of the websites which help join professionals together. Don't be afraid to jump in the community pool to contact old friends or make new ones. We're all in this together. It doesn't help when you feel alone.

Lest I leave out the obvious, helium.com is another wonderful Internet work from home opportunity. At the same time, it can enable you to realize your life experiences and skills could actually help someone else. You might even get some helpful feedback regarding your articles.

I never considered myself a writer. I suppose I thought one had to be born with the right genes that enabled them to express themselves beautifully. The more I read about famous writers like Hemingway, Steinbeck and Dickens, the more I realize they worked hard at their craft. Gold did not instantly land in their lap, either. If you have the desire to write and are just stubborn enough, like me, to give it a try, write and invite others to do the same.

When you feel somewhat confident with your grammar and writing skills, marketplace and the writing contest area on helium are the best sections to earn money.

Money does not grow on trees but, fortunately, there are places on the Internet where a person can be challenged, help others and perhaps make enough money to pay your monthly mortgage.

Every week day morning, there are millions of people who wake up, turn on the computer, grab their cup of coffee and start work without even taking a shower first. If you have recently lost your job and are discouraged because your phone happens to be silent even though you emailed 100 copies of your resume, start looking and learning about the possibilities on the Internet. You might just find a niche that will be rewarding and satisfying; however, if you find any money growing on trees, please let me know. I would love to set my parents straight.
