The sounds of cheering fans people parading the streets of Boston. It's a very happy city and state in the sports world right now and why not I would be if my teams were excelling in all their glory. Let's start by going back to last year baseball world series Boston Red Sox World series Champions after completing the sweep of the Colorado Rockies. It is their second World Series title in three years for the Red Sox. Then in college football Boston College emerged as a national championship contender at one point in the 2007 season before stumbling with a couple losses to Virginia tech and Florida state two acc rivals. They were lead by quarter back Matt Ryan of whom recently was drafted 3rd overall by the Atlanta Falcons. They fell short of their national title after the Virginia tech loss. Boston College was ranked number 2 at the time. The Golden Eagles still managed to finish the season 11 and 3 and earn a bowl bid and won the champs sports bowl in Orlando, Florida. Which was their unprecedented eighth bowl win in a row?
Then there's the New England Patriots who went undefeated throughout the 2007 regular season and the playoffs until they were upset by the New York giants in super bowl 42. The season had all the makings of a championship season or so we thought. Randy moss and Tom Brady both set records in TD in 2007. Randy Moss had 98 receptions for 1493 receiving yards and 23 TD. Tom Brady had 50 TD 4806 passing yards and only 8 interceptions. The New England patriots finished the season 16 and 0 the only undefeated season since the Miami Dolphins did it back in 1972. They were the hands down favorite to win it all. After acquiring moss in the off season many New England Fans wondered if he was the right fit, and if he would work well with Tom Brady. After a lackluster couple of seasons in Oakland, Randy moss re-emerged as a superstar in the NFL last season. The Fans in Massachusetts were ecstatic about their Patriots only to be utterly disappointed in a heartbreaking loss in the super bowl. However the 2008 season looks promising and the patriots could be making another championship run
Then we look over to the NBA how spoiled can one city and state be the Boston Celtics, a team with so much tradition and history, acquire Kevin Garnett to join Paul Pierce and Ray Allen in a 7 player trade Boston sent the Minnesota Timberwolves forwards Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes and Gerald Green, guard Sebastian Telfair and center Theo Ratliff, two first-round draft picks and cash considerations. Besides Ratliff, 34, the other four are 24 or younger. The Boston Celtics formed the big 3 Garnett, Allen, and Pierce which is being compared to Boston's old big Larry Bird, Robert Parish, and Kevin McHale. Boston is currently on a hunt for the title and hungry.
