You're standing in front of the object which you consider to be your worst enemy - the mirror. You glance at every angle, sucking in your stomach, lifting up some random part of your body to make yourself look thinner in that evil reflective glass. An event is coming up that you are required to attend, whether it be a reunion, wedding, anniversary party or whatever it might be. You need to lose that extra 10 or 20 pounds. But is it really simple to get rid of that extra weight?

I find no easy answer to this, because yes, it is simple. But no, it is not. Being someone who has lost 30 pounds since Christmas 2007, I have found some simple rules to losing weight; eat right and exercise.
You do not need the next biggest fad, you don't need to cut out all carbs, or all fat, you do not need to switch to artificial sweeteners, or cut your calories to 500 per day, you do not need to over exercise or burn every single calorie that you ate throughout the day.

The simple truth is the one that people most often overlook, because they want to lose the weight as quickly as possible. The truth is, you cannot lose a large amount of weight in a short period of time - if you do, you will gain it all back PLUS more when you finally go back to the way you were eating.

The best and easiest way to lose weight is this;

Eat right. No that does not mean eating an entire bag of Doritos but putting them in with your daily caloric need. This means eating everything in moderation, in correct portion sizes and eating healthy foods. Try to avoid processed food as much as possible, eating fruits, veggies, whole grains, whole grain cereals and so forth. Have an egg for breakfast instead of a bowl of cereal - not only will it keep you full much longer, an egg only has around 65 calories, where a bowl of cereal can have upwards of 200 calories per serving!

Avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup - This is in a lot of things. It is a cheaper form of sugar that companies have been using in order to save money, it is VERY bad for you. Not only does it turn off your "I'm full" sensor, make you feel lethargic and moody, it also damages and ages your liver, which can cause all kinds of problems. If you cut this one simple ingredient out of your diet, your body will thank you for it and you will lose weight. Your body has it's own natural "I'm not hungry" button.

If you are addicted to chewing and that is why you eat so much food - try gum instead, you get the same movements and workout, for only 5 calories a piece
