Ways to increase your truck's gas mileage

SAVING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE ON YOUR TRUCK'S GAS MILEAGE

With the ever raising gas prices, it is getting more and more expensive to drive those V-8 trucks. My husband has no choice in driving his V-8 truck since it is used for his work. His profits however from the jobs are getting smaller and smaller as he fills his gas tank every week. His job requires him to haul around lots of tool and drive many miles each and every week.

For those of you who are like him, there are small things you can do to help get as much mileage per gallon as possible. There are many small things you may not realize is costing you to use up more gas each and every day. Here is a helpful guide to getting the most out of your hard earned money at the gas pump.

KEEP UP ON YOUR TRUCKS MAINTENANCE

This has to be the most important factor in you truck and the gas you are putting into it. If you regular tune up your truck and do oil changes the better your truck will run. The better your truck runs the more fuel efficacy it will be for you. Keep your air filters clean and maintain them on a regular basis. Check the amount of air in your tires regularly as well. Doing this ensures your truck is running its best and saves on gas. When you shop for new tires purchase large diameter tires for rear wheels. Not only is maintaining your truck good for helping save at the gas pump, but it is safer for you and prolongs the life of your truck.

SLOW DOWN

The faster you go, the more fuel you are sing. Stay within the speed limits and do not exceed them. This will save you a lot over time. The wind resistance is what causes you to use fuel up the faster you go.

UNLOAD ANY POSSIBLE EXTRA WEIGHT

Carrying extra weight both inside and outside your truck causes your truck to use more gas due to the extra weight the truck is carrying. When you are using your truck for work purposes this may be hard to due if you need to carry large parts or tools, so just try to carry what you need only for each and every job. You will notice the less weight your truck is carrying the longer your gas will last you.

TRY NOT TO USE YOUR AIR CONDITIONER

This may be a hard one for many people to do, but using you air conditioner drastically increases the amount of gas you will use. On the other hand when you drive with your windows down at high speeds your car uses more gas as well from the air drag.

WARMING UP YOUR CAR

There really is no need to warm up your car in the mornings for more
