Solving the problem of drug trafficking

In order to effectively solve the problem of drug trafficking, we must first assess why it is even classified as a problem. Is it problematic because it continues to successfully endure in defiance of established domestic and international laws, a boldly clamorous flatulent in the face of the war on drugs? Is this problem manifested simply because one group is reaping the nontaxable economic benefits while another group is completely marginalized from these benefits? How about a better question why are some drugs constituted as illegal (cocaine, heroin, marijuana, etc.) while others (alcohol, tobacco and pharmaceuticals) are deemed acceptable? It doesn't take much effort to realize that the problem of drug trafficking results from an illogical classification of substances some are legal whilst others are illegal. The assessment is quite simple, however absurd the justifications for being illicit may be.

Take into consideration the most general definition of the word "drug" according to the Random House Dictionary, a drug is any nonfood substance intended to affect any function of the body. Any nonfood substance, elementary enough I'd say. When you have a headache following an unpleasant day at work you take an aspirin or two and experience relief, or possibly you just let Calgon take you away. Whatever your preference, it's still a good thing aspirin isn't illegal. Perhaps some of you Scotch aficionados look forward to entering your comfy abode at the end of a long day, sinking into your favorite recliner that belonged to your grandfather and enjoying a nice glass of Glenmorangie on the rocks in one hand with a Cuban cigar (provided you're outside US borders) in the other while Frank Sinatra shuffles on your stereo. Good thing we aren't living in those pesky days of prohibition again, eh? As for that Cuban stogie, somehow Bill Clinton and Arnold Schwarzenegger are above the law when it comes to such inconvenient nuisances, as for the rest of us, well, an embargo is an embargo. As such, perhaps a nice Marlboro would suffice? There now, you're feeling better already, aren't you? Now, imagine if the FDA or Congress entered your living room while trying to relax in the best way you see fit, and declared that aspirin, Scotch and Marlboros were just too risky for you, as an adult, to ingest (albeit lobbyists for the pharmaceutical, alcohol and tobacco industries would never settle for such outrageous decrees). Let's be honest, what you put into your body is your business,
