Thank you Mr. President for my $300. I got it in my direct deposit this morning. I had seen the schedule, got by a friend of mine in the Senior Housing Section-8 complex I live; I was in the second wave, the first entitled direct deposit accounts having been filled last week.
I am thinking what I will do with the money - help the economy? Indirectly, but DIRECTLY NOW TO HELP ME! I owe on my car insurance - $157 - due May 8th. I'd not have been able to pay it until May 21st, when my Social Security comes in. I also told our 50th High School Reunion Coordinator that once this money came in, I'd send him the $175 registration fee for our November 15, 2008 Class of '58 50th High School Reunion. So, those two figures add up to $307 - I'll throw in the $7. Without the $300, I'd have to postpone the high school reunion money, pay the car insurance late, and possibly another car insurance payment as well, since my policy was changed - for the better - but the last due date moved up a little, maybe the next one remaining the same. I have to figure on that.
So, the $300 certainly comes at a crucial time for me now, as I am going away to a Convention in Ocean Grove, NJ May 16-18, about a hundred-mile trip one way. I will be driving, which means about 2/3s a tank of gas in my car (I have an 11-gallon tank), meaning I'll have to spend about $27 or so for gas - and be ready for higher tolls on the Jersey highways, as well as the new $8 George Washington Bridge toll. It'll cost enough! I'll also have to pay the second day at the hotel where I'll be staying (paid my first night's deposit), though that could come out of my May 21 Social Security, the check probably not clearing right away; that's a bad idea, counting on that!
I suppose I'll be helping the Economy, somewhere down the line - through time. It's 'found money', the $300, isn't it? Whatever you'll be getting too can be considered found money. It's six of one and/or half a dozen of another, how money can be divided up according to what you'll spend it on - a multiple overlap. Whatever I spend money on in life, I will continue to be spend - most of it as usual, except this $300 will help - theoretically perpetually forever! It really will, maybe just in cents, a few dollars - it all adds up. So, right now, paying my car insurance payment, may not seem to help the economy directly, but it will. I'll be able to keep my car, continue to have it registered, buy more gas for it. That contributes to my being able
