American and the Next Generation

Our own personal values will determine the kind of America we will leave to the next generation. If we are sick and tired of the ancient tactics of Washington politics that provides fodder for the media to intravenously feed the public with sound bites and tabloid-like coverage of the newsthen we need to be committed to stop allowing the deliberate manipulation by the news media to keep our eyes on the minors and cease being so willing to ignore the major and serious issues that is facing this country.

As long as the American people are going to be preoccupied with issues like flag pins and seeking explanations on the statements of the candidates surrogates as opposed to the candidates themselvesthen we will eventually receive the American that we have desired. One that keep looking on superficial outward imagery and overlooking the actual actions of the individual candidate and that can prove to be dangerous.

We have an administration currently in office that wears a flag pin every day. We have an administration that will never fail to salute the flag when any song is sung that remotely sound patriotic. We have an administration that "speaks" over and over about his love for this country. And then this same administration with all the outward patriotic "stuff" that we have determined measures "genuine patriotism" however in motion fails to deliver any respect or commitment to the Constitution of our Founding Fathers. This same administration shows very little respect or concern for the American people by the bills that has been passed and the bills that has been vetoed. However, what is increasingly apparent is the genuine concern this administration has for big corporations and oil companies while the average American citizens is getting poorer and poorer while Big Corporate America gets richer and richer. But, as long as this administration sports a flag pin and salute the flag we, the American people have concluded that he is most patriotic in spite of the evidence pointing otherwise.

We need to stop allowing the politics of old to play to our fears and continually insult our intelligence for the only way this "kind" of politics can be effective is -if we all agree to be spoon fed nonsense and get fat off of folly to the degree we become obese on non-issues while genuine issues goes unobserved or unacknowledged and nothing is resolved in our country.
