The family is an institution in itself. It is the foundation of the society and where education of children begins. A family is where everybody starts to learn. It is here that a person is molded into what he is tomorrow and soon interact with the society to contribute socially and economically. If the family structure breaks down, what would happen to the society? There is much to consider in the building of a society where in every member of the family are involved.
Each member of the family has their own roles because a family has a structure of its own. The father earns for a living. Mothers stay at home to do the housework and care for the children. Children on the other hand are expected to go to school to learn and be productive citizens in the future. They are also expected to help father and mother in some of their works at home and be responsible citizens. And then there are the extended families like the grandmother, grandfather, uncle, aunt, cousins and -in-laws which are also parts of the family. They also have their own roles as members of the family. And they take part in building a society.
Each of these family members have great contribution to the society. The socialization and involvement of each family member in the society is a vital aspect in the formation of society. A family with a solid foundation would produce family members who are more productive and would be more responsible to help build a better society.
Just like building a house, there must be a solid foundation before it could be built. And the strength of the house will be judged by the kind of foundation it was built. A strong foundation makes a strong house, but if the foundation laid is weak, there is no doubt that the house would collapse in one shake. So is a society, if the foundation is weak then too many problems would occur.
If the family structure breaks, so much of the society would be in trouble. There would be no coordination and economic progress will collapse. It is the family that makes a society so with the broken structure, the society would go nowhere but go on a stand still.
