There is not that much hysteria about immigration. That is the legal kind of immigration. Illegal immigration is an entirely different story. I would venture to say that the American public is sick and tired of getting ridden hard; and being put away wet! What is being called hysteria is nothing more than the majority of Americans citizens being fed up with our open borders. The Governments inability to enforce the existing immigration laws should be seen as nothing less than a capitulation to Mexico and Big Business.

If 3% of illegal aliens are picking crops, what are the other 97% doing? Does one of the other 15 to 20 million (or more) illegal aliens have the job you have been trying to get? Are you tired of going to your local store or restaurant and being one of the only persons that does not speak Spanish? I am.

There are a few things out of control. The Government is the biggest offender. The Government allows illegal aliens to attend schools and get government assistance. Legal aliens get some awesome benefits like 7 years of no taxes, business grants, and higher education benefits. Some Americans would mortgage their first born for a fraction of these benefits.

Employers are out of control also. Employers are paying cash to illegal laborers, and getting away with it. While the rest of us are paying Social Security, FICA, State Taxes, Medicare, Medicaid, Workman's Compensation, and Unemployment Insurance.

I have a equitable solution for immigration as a whole. Give every legal alien all of the benefits that a citizens has; but nothing else. The came to this country legally, so let them profit as an American would; by working for it and paying taxes.

As for the illegal aliens, entering the country illegally is a crime; treat them like the criminals that they are. Since they are criminals there should be a bounty of $100 per illegal alien. This bounty would be paid to the person who turned the illegal alien into the authorities. Payment would be in the form of a 1099 IAC (Illegal Alien Credit).
When you file your taxes and say you owe $1,000, and you have 5 Credits; your net tax payable would be $500. Additionally, employers that are caught with illegal workers should be fined $1,000 per illegal employee, plus the cost of deportation. When the Government realizes that they can make money getting rid of illegal aliens, they just change their attitude.
