There is great satisfaction in planting a tiny little seed and watching it grow into a beautiful, colorful flower. That is all it took to get me excited about gardening, you see, gardening is good for the soul and the spirit.
Taking a chance on a new plant, brings excitement to each new season. I may know that periwinkles love sun and do not need much water or attention, but planting something new, creates a new challenge to my gardening experience.
The joys are abundant. The results you receive in a few weeks of planting, when the bare stems begin to bud, and the anticipation of the flowers about to bloom. The feeling you get when you snap off a dead flower only to get double the blooms next week. The peace and quiet of sitting back with a tall cold glass of iced tea, admiring all your hard work, will be quite gratifying.
This is why we love to garden. We plant and are obligated to the care of these plants. We nurture them and they in turn nurture us. I truly believe this. There is something therapeutic about gardening. It may be the joy you get from the gorgeous array of color and the way you have arranged your garden, or it may be the scent of the peace rose that you cut for your kitchen counter. However, there is no denying the fact, your garden gives back.
Experiencing with new flowers, annuals or perennials will allow you to challenge your gardening expertise. I will admire a flower driving down the street and if I am lucky enough to see someone in the yard, I will not hesitate to stop and compliment them on their garden and ask for the name of the flower. I love seeing what others can create with their landscape.
There is pure delight in having a garden; the results are worthwhile and satisfying. Once the flowers have established, spending a few minutes each day caring for the plants will insure a beautiful summer garden
A kind of peace occurs when gardening, it allows you to find relaxation in your labor. The hard work and thoughtful attention you give to your garden will reward you with delightful satisfaction.
Taking time for your self after a long day at work, or a long day at home for that matter, is necessary and deserved! Spending time in the garden will allow you the opportunity to regroup and refresh.
Let your senses go! Smell the fresh fragrance of sweet alyssum, sweet pea, or gardenia. Touch the soft, velvety rose petal. See the splendid color you have created with the zinnias, pansies and spectacular cornflowers. Combining the many varieties is totally your own design and handiwork.
Be inspired, have fun and remember the simple joys of life.
