How did the United States become a target for terrorism?

Everything in which we've fought for since civilization began and everything in which we are proud of is the reason in which we've become a target for terrorism. It is not only America who has become a target, but also every freethinking nation that has the ability to live the dream and practice Democracy is a target as well.

Today we often see debate regarding religion, for example have a look at the controversy that surrounded a fiction book titled "The Davinci Code" that questioned relationships within the Bible. Remember the outcry and attention this book received over the religion of Christianity? If you'd like to gain attention and controversy, using religion is a sure way of receiving it.

But the religion in which al Qaeda terrorists follow is one we have not come across before. Their holy book has been interpreted to advise all to kill the non-believers. According to a translated tape Osama Bin Laden released on a Jihadist website on 4/27/06 in regards to killing Infidels, he says "Death is better than living on this Earth with the unbelievers amongst us." We are loathed for being different and non-believers. It is an extremely strange reversal of roles where a nation is being discriminated against, simply for living a democratic life in which we celebrate.

Besides the way in which we live, everything that America has its finger in has also become the target of terrorists fueling the hate and loathing. Thus making the reasons as to why America has become a target for terrorism one that is quite intricate and thought provoking to the many who are proud of their nations activities in war, famine and development of other countries. Terrorists are using history as an example to incite reasons to hate America; some are with good reason and others misinterpreted nonsense that still seems to be achieving its goal of gathering followers and inciting hatred.

Following is a look at some of the reasons America has become the target of terrorism and terrorist actions.

AMERICA THE SUPERPOWER

The USA is recognized as the sole super-power throughout the world. Targeting the country that has the most influence throughout the world is important to terrorist propaganda. Terrorism is designed to create fear, and to create fear within the largest super power on the globe adds to their credibility.

AMERICA AND ITS IGNORANCE

America was ignorant. They never thought the country could be attacked or come under threat due to their brilliant
