Children are not being overdiagnosed with JUST ADD/ADHD.

It's not just children, either.

Everyone is getting overdiagnosed, and it's often nothing more than a headache.

While a doctor who says EVERYTHING is in your' head, sometimes it actually is.

ADD/ADHD is perhaps one of the biggest examples.

When I was young((a mere 17 years ago)), ie: 5, my doc diagnosed me with ADHD, and recommended Ritalin.

Instead, My mom refused, because I didn't want it.

We cut back on my sugar intake.

Quite a bit.

And then the next time, my doc couldn't figure out why he diagnosed me in the first place.

ADHD, in my view, is not a disease of the mind, but a disease of the diet.

Most 'diseases' that people are mis-diagnosed, or even diagnosed correctly with, are quite manageable, through diet.

As a general rule, with the exception of the form of diabetes where your' body requires high amounts of sugars to counter an insulin over-charge, cutting back on the sweets, especially refined sugar, in general, can do wonders.

In addition, switching your' coffee from refined to cane sugar can help quite a bit too. It's just as sweet, but it's naturally occurring. In addition, switching from say... a chocolate bar, to a granola bar with chocolate ON it can help win the battle.

And vitamin imbalances often are treatable as well. Scurvy, for example, can be countered with an Apple a day. Anemia can be countered quite easily by eating a bit more red meat((not too much)), and switching from a mars bar, or some other sweet treat, to Oreos((Did you know that, because they are molasses based, for every TWO REGULAR SIZED COOKIES, you intake roughly 8% of the average daily recommended intake of Iron? Be sure to have it with milk though! There's a reason those commercials show kids dipping it in milk; they taste better, and the calcium from the milk helps your' body absorb the iron better.)).

Perhaps, however, the simplest way to counter ADHD/ADD, is to take time to teach your' child. Alot of children get mis-diagnosed, or over-diagnosed with these silly diseases because their' parents don't have the time available to bother with teaching them some basic principles. These parents would rather medicate their' children into silence, rather than step up to the plate on it. I admit, I was spoiled. My mom was on disability, and was able to spend as much time in the day with me as she could. Not that I was spoiled from a money point of view, but at-least I had a real parent.
