For those of you that want your hair to scream emo, here are a few tips.
Color-
The usual color of the emo hairstyle is black. But as time passes, the emo hairstyle is evolving. More and more, teenagers with this style are leaning away from the boring plain black, and now are leaning towards many different colors in their hair. Such examples are: Black with a blond highlight somewhere in their hair. Black with neon colors such as, bright blue, purple, and pink highlighting their bangs. Since black is the darkest, and therefore most depressing color, it has been known to dominate the emo hairstyle.
Style-
There are many ways to style your hair to show the emo characteristics. Some ways are, long in the front and short in the back. Make sure you purchase a flat iron or hair straightener for your bangs. You can also spike the short area in the back with any form of hair gel.
Another way to promote the emo hairstyle is long everywhere, but make sure that, no matter what the length of the hair is, it needs to be choppy, and by that Imean it needs to have obvious layers. No matter what hairstyle you choose from, a good tip is: make sure your hair is straight in the long areas, and make sure that your bangs are in your face.
Now these characteristics are not specified for a boy or girl. The fact is, when it comes to the emo hairstyle, there is nothing different from either sex's
hair. Both boy and girl have long bangs, straight hair, and if it is short in the back usually both boy and girl spike the short area.
The emo hairstyle incorporates insecurity. When you wear your long bangs in your face, it shows that you have something to hide. It shows that you have low self esteem. It shows that you do not like people seeing you eyes because you are emotional (emo) and therefore it means you have been crying.
The black in your hair shows that you like the dark, you like to see the depressing world around you, because you, like the world, are depressed.
The black also goes great with your black fingernail polish or your black eyeliner.
Again these emo characteristics are found in both boys and girls.
When you spike your short hair in the back, you show that you are rebellious. You show that you do not like authority. You do not like being told what to do.
By putting different colors besides black in your hair it shows that you are not boring. It shows that you want to be an individual (even though hundreds of other teenagers share this hairstyle with you). It, like the spiking of the hair, shows rebellion.
With emo being the number one style for teenagers at this time, make sure you do your hair right, or every other emo teen will know. Also, try working with it, make it your own in some way, try making it individual, while it remains emo.
