Terrorism in the United States is a very real and threatening presence that exists because of our country's generosity. Most Americans feel the need to help the entire world because of our prosperity and the pictures we see of their needs. Our disassociation and ignorance to other cultures is, unfortunately, going to be our downfall.
There are those Americans that believe everyone in the world wants the same comforts and material items that we possess and do not realize that this is only one mindset among the hundreds of countries and their way of life that they have come to know.
I don't think that most countries want to be like Americans and resent the fact that our misguided acts of kindness are nothing more than a sign of superiority over their very being. We have allowed thousands of foreigners into our country, not knowing what their true feelings and intents are.
Religion plays a strong role in determining a person's beliefs and way of life. Many terrorists share a type of religious belief that what they are thinking and doing is absolutely the right thing to do. Americans do not understand that we are the enemy, hated with the very core of these fanatics and openly welcome them into our country merely because they have a smile on their face and a story we want to hear.
There are terrorists present throughout the country and our government is at work every single day to crush plans that they possess for elimination of thousands of people. Most have been accomplished well but some slip through the cracks. 911 was one of those incidents that could not be prevented in time. As bad as this day was, this was only 1/4 of the mayhem that was planned by terrorists, the other 3/4 caught and extinguished in time.
Why doesn't the government tell us of every attempt at our lives by these terrorist groups that have infiltrated the United States of America? If Americans knew of every plan to wipe out their existence, the paranoia would be so strong that everyone walking down the street would be seen as a threat.
The American government may make many mistakes that are obvious but they also have a job to do to protect the lives and rights of its citizens and keeping terrorism at an absolute minimum, while allowing anyone with a hope and dream to come to the USA, is one that they should be commended for.
