Mercy Me's soulful tunes are a clear demonstration of their praise and worship. Singles, Word of God Speak, Here With Me, and So Long Self beg to hear the Lord's desires and prove their willingness to do what He wants.

Christian Rap

KJ-52 made headlines with his song, Dear Slim, which he wrote to rapper, Eminem, about the negative effect of Slim's music on teens. Though his vocals resemble Eminem's, the words he rips express positive messages about prayer and the goodness of God.

There have been, and continue to be, debates about the appropriateness of contemporary Christian music. Many suggest that it only leads to listening to secular tunes which, in turn, leads to rebellion and acts of immorality. Though Christian teens may break away from their faith, it is not purely the fault of music. Psychological development, media influences, and peer pressure also affect deterrence from God. But by introducing teenagers to Christian songs, they can fulfill their need for the music they love while hearing God's message at an age when decisions set their character for life.
