A fight between Batman and Superman

It is incredibly hard to imagine an actual fight happening between Batman and Superman. The physical advantage is as vast as the DC universe and it would be utterly impossible for Batman to defeat Superman if it was a no-holds barred slugfest. For starters, Batman is a human. Albeit, Bruce Wayne is quite possibly the most physically gifted, strongest, and most intelligent human on the planet, but Superman is an alien. Clark Kent possesses powers unlike anything the universe has ever seen. His full power, which is evidenced as being the most destructive and prevailing when need be, is reached under a yellow sun and that is something Batman could never match. One would have to imagine the possibility of a fight between these two as impossible unless Batman (or Superman) did something so morally reprehensible the other felt the need to act upon it. These two are crime fighters and friends. Their personalities and tactics may differ at times, but the ultimate outcome when they work together is an almost-unstoppable force of brain and brawn.

Now, there could be a way for The Dark Knight to defeat Superman. In one of the comic storylines between the two heroes, Superman gives Batman some Kryptonite to even the playing field should Superman ever act out of line. In this case, Batman would have a slight advantage if he could withstand the physical destruction his body would have to endure in order to get close enough to use the Kryptonite. Superman is much too fast to not avoid his weakness and while Batman is quite possibly the most lethal human, his reactions are just that and he would be unable to pin down Superman. It is just as well to note that Superman would figure Batman to have the Kryptonite on him so it should be assumed that The Man of Steel would be looking for that.

Being the top-notch detective that he is, Batman could find a way to utilize the Kryptonite and take down Superman. He is a brilliant mind and if any mortal has the ability to out-think Superman and bring an end to any imagined terror Superman could bring down on a city (and it could be a lot of terror if Superman ever decided to go down that path), it is Batman. The only way though, would be for Batman to still have in his possession that valuable piece of Kryptonite. That would ultimately prove to be the deciding factor in a battle between these two superhero powerhouses. In terms of brute force, though, it is no contest. Superman could annihilate Batman any way he chooses with a fraction of his power and there is nothing Batman could do about it. This hypothetical battle poses some interesting points and many possible outcomes, but it should be the desire of any comic book fan for it to never happen. It would mean the end of everything these heroes stand for and the victory of the villains in the universe.
