2007/2008 New Orleans Hornets
Paul, West, Chandler, and my homeboy Moe P straight out of the big D are the fabulous, suave new B-boys redefining the NBA. We all know them as the New Orleans Hornets.
The 2007/2008 New Orleans Hornets is no ordinary basketball team. They are one of the few teams every die-hard basketball junkie watch in amazement as Chris Paul glides in motion. He dishes a sweet pass that's right on the money. "Damn, did you see that?" You just got to love them even if you're not from the dirty South.
New Orleans Hornets possess youth, passion, and a cockiness that will one day lead them to a NBA title. That one-day is much closer than most people realize. They have many pieces of the puzzle: a future Hall of Fame point guard in Chris Paul, a tough, sharp shooter power forward with David West who can shoot it from the outside and put it on the floor. The spry Chandler Tyson in the middle blocking shots and dunking, and good, complimentary role players in Morris Peterson and Peja Stojakovic. Bryon Scott as their coach seals the deal. He's a players' coach, a champion, and a man who knows how the game is played. New Orleans Hornets have demonstrated that they can score and defend with the best. Offense and defense is what wins championships.
These boys have swagger, and sweet jump shots.
Will the Hornets win it all now? No. They're right there peeping in. They will only go so far with their current bench. The New Orleans Hornets need to develop a solid, forceful bench to have a chance at a title.
This season for the Hornets was an opportunity to showcase their franchise. All eyes in the NBA have taken notice. Teams know that they must pay attention to the Hornets now. They blew the Spurs out during the regular season, and the Spurs won't have an easy playoff series with the Hornets. Actually, the Hornets have a good chance to upset the champions.
2007/2008 Hornets brought excitement, slickness, and joy to the NBA. It was quite refreshing
watching these extraordinary athletes who seem daring and unpredictable. They have versatility, style and grace. Beyond the players, what the Hornets did this season was gain respect as an organization. This team was built to win.
