How we find victory through the blood of Jesus

NOT WITHOUT THE BLOOD

Key scripture Hebrews 9:6-14
Introduction- Why is there such a falling away from the standard of Christian living laid out in the Bible? The break down of morality, not only in the "world" but also in the lives of the Christians seen in church every week. Could this be a consequence of the lack of preaching and teaching on the power of the New Testament teaching on the BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST? Too truly, get an understanding of the central importance God placed on the blood. Let us look at the central position that God places on blood in the Old Testament and the New Testament

I- We start in the Old Testament: Leviticus 17: 11 for the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

A. we see here it is the blood that has life and it takes a live to provide atonement for sin. One life taken so another can find forgiveness. However, this is not the first instance of the blood sacrifice; it started in the garden when God slayed an animal to make garments for Adam and Eve Gen 3-21.A live was given to cover their nakedness. In addition, as we study the O.T we see the blood as the sacrifice for sins through out.

II. Gen. 22:1- we can look at Abraham and Isaac and see that a life had to be laid down for a life to be consecrated to God; a beautiful lesson on the substitution of Jesus at Calvary and that it is only through the blood that we can come before God.

A. we have an old man and a teenager who is to be offered on the alter, ever wonder about how one old man would get that boy on the altar? Isaac had to be obedient to his father and to God, a good lesson on obedience to our parents as well as to God for all of us to study.

III. Ex. 12:13 From there we can see the Passover in Egypt and the people of God could not leave the land of captivity "without the blood"; just like today, it is but through the blood of Jesus and it is the only way. God says, "When I see the BLOOD I will pass over you" what a picture of what God does today, by the blood of Jesus we are made as white as snow; we are washed and made whole.

IV.Ex.24:5-8 But the next thing we see is at Sinai is the God gave His law as the foundation of His covenant but "not without BLOOD". The blood was first sprinkled on the altar and the book of the covenant representing Gods side of the covenant and then on the people with the declaration
