Growing old is all part of life. There is nothing to be afraid of. Trust in God and try to live a good wholesome life. The years seem to go by faster as we age. The body seems to wear out. The world changes all around us. New achievements follow with each passing day. Good news and sad news air on the television all around the world. Our soldiers death toll mounts higher and higher. So think about life this way. We are here in the now. Today is ours to do whatever we want to do with it. Someone will make a difference, others will pass by yet another day. There is no guarantee of tomorrow. Savor every day.
For those of you that find fear in growing old, I suggest you rekindle your faith. "Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what your are going to get",Forrest Gump. Many people take life with a grain of salt. They go all through their life never achieving anything. Some just barely get by. Some will never grow old. If we look at the big picture, then we would realize that life is a just a stepping stone in the whole scheme of things. Maybe growing old includes learning from life's lessons and applying them to better prepare yourself for the future.
Growing old has its good points. We become wiser and more and more self-reliant. Most of us plan for retirement and prepare for the golden days. Some will work until they die. Capture all the fine points in a diary and with photography. It is very relaxing reliving great times with family and friends as you grow older. Recalling exciting things you did with your children and special once in a lifetime events such as getting married.
Try not to live too much in the past. Growing old seems to generate regrets we harbor in our hearts, from all the things we could have, should have done. Sure if we only knew then what we know now, things would be different. Try to sustain from envy and remember it is never too late to improve your education or change your career. This is our time. Our time to experience the beautiful world that God created. There are so many wonderful things to hear and see in this world. Make time to do things, especially with your children. I do not have time, is a very damaging response to a child's ear. Children learn from you and I. Let growing old be a special time and try not to dwell on the end. At least we do not know the day and time of our end. Then growing old would really be scary.
