An expert in the field of study (MYSELF-being 50 years old and having no DUI offenses or convictions) offers the following tips as a guideline to deter individuals from driving under the influence of alcohol. Careful adherence will result in a contribution towards saving lives and money lost annually related to drunk driving offenses
In my own eyes the answer to this dilemma should be simplistic, but apparently that is not the case as the episodes of driving under the influence continues to be one of the most serious dangers to drivers and passengers on the road. Countless lives are lost daily and the staggering number does not include the individuals who are injured as a result of someone driving drunk These victims face perhaps months or years of rehabilitation, along with medical costs that could become extravagant. Lives can be changed to never, ever, be the same again. With that thought fresh in mind, why doesn't each individual take on a personal responsibility to CHANGE the grim outlook in that direction and SIMPLY be more responsible in our own use daily and in interactions with others within our environment using alcoholic beverages.
A number of Americans partake of the drinking of alcoholic beverages. We have shied away from statistics so far because at this point we want a different area of focus. I am speaking now to each person as an individual and asking that you consider that you alone can begin making a difference that might save your life or the life of your loved ones. Even if you do not drink alcohol, you are still a part of the solution!
Have you ever been driving on the road and happen to see someone whom you knew to be definitely intoxicated. What was you reaction? Steer clear to remove yourself and your property from the path of destruction? Alert the police? Did you think to yourself that's an accident waiting to happen? Did you consider the other people that the drunk driver may literally run into somewhere down the road? Honestly, I believe that if you can confirm that someone is driving drunk, you have a personal responsibility to go a step further. The number of deaths related to drunk driving are too staggering to turn the other way and pretend the danger in over because you are not in position to be the victim. Take a moment to call 911 and report the incident with as much information as possible. The license number, make and model of the vehicle would be beneficial along able to identifying the direction the drunk driver was headed.
