Summer is everything and anything I could ever want. Birds, green grass, clean air, clear skies, wicker furniture, relaxing on the deck, and a good old baseball game or two. I live in Iowa and I appreciate any warm, sunny day the Good Lord provides me with. Winter time can seem very long. I seem to bounce right from Winter to Summer. The weather man tells us that the skipping of Spring comes from this thing we hear called Global Warming. I'm not convinced, now that's a whole other topic.

I love being able to sit out on my deck by the moonlight on a clear night. It's so peaceful. I enjoy wishing upon the stars in the sky and pondering where the night sky ends. Night time in the summer is so relaxing and there is a calmness around like no other. The sultriness in the air is welcoming. I usually have a kitten or two hovering around my ankles. With the change of seasons the cat parade grows at our home. Mother nature has a way of providing new life with the change of seasons.

A boat ride on the lake. Oh, how I love that in the summer time. Gliding across the water that glistens beneath the clear blue sky. The water appears to be blue, although I do know differently. The 4th of July brings a special time, the fireworks fly right over my head as I lay back relaxed on a reclining chair in the boat. The bursts of red, yellow, orange, purple, and many other colors enhance the evening summer skies.

Being able to sit around a campfire is another delight of mine. Roasting a marshmallow or two and sharing them with a friend. I like them toasted around the edges and nice and mushy in the middle. I enjoy the flicker of the fire while I reflect on the happenings of the day. It's a peaceful time like no other.

Family time in the summer is awesome! A volleyball game, a game of croquet, riding 4-wheelers, swimming at the pool, hitting the water parks, a roller coaster or two, hiking, camping, grilling, picnics in the park, and the list goes on and on! I love summer, as it's a time to kick back and enjoy life! With pleasant temperatures the outdoors is a glorious place to be.

A new hobby of mine is bird watching. I enjoy listening for the wood-peckers and blue jays. They each have their distinct sounds. And, oh the colors. The colors of these and other birds are absolutely gorgeous! A good set of binoculars will keep me occupied for hours on end. I love summer and hope to enjoy many more summers to come! I also look forward to new hobbies and activities as the clock ticks forward. Life is very short and I am going to make the best of it while I'm here- here's to summer- CHEERS!
