I searched so hard and toiled long,
But I never dreamed that you
Would be the one I was searching for,
My life, my hope anew.
I knew you as many things, it's true,
But I never could really see.
I never saw you for what you were,
The angel I didn't see.
A wingless angel, ripped of his halo,
But still, in your heart, you were free.
Because angels can never be chained or bound,
Not you, the angel beside me.
I never imagined what Heaven would send,
And I owe you an apology,
For never ackowledging you and avoiding your smile,
You, The angel I didn't see.
But now you're gone, and I've missed my chance,
For my grief, there's no remedy.
But, I promise I'll forever never forget
The angel who was beside me.
Although you're dead, you still live on,
But you live in my memory.
Though on earth I never noticed, now I truly love
That angel I didn't see.
