an important medium for writers and is only furthered through the construction of other genres such as science fiction and fantasy. Holding their foundations historically, socially and culturally, such stories and concepts allow readers to gain a greater understanding of the world which surrounds them and of the reality to which they are transported to, by the author.
Although it is often suggested that the popularity of such stories is in decline, their transition has continued into the modern day and would appear to be re-capturing the imagination of a whole new generation of readers. However, with the installment of writers such as J.K Rolling, it might be perceived that such works are moving away from the stereotypical epics adventures of previous years and are now being enjoyed by much younger individuals.
Essentially, fiction, science fiction and fantasy based stories remain grounded within a traditional foundation and it is important for those interested in these realms to remember the contextual depth to which such works run and their presence throughout history.
