The down-side of cell phones

Back To Coffee Cans On Each End Of A String?

I truly hate my cell phone, but I can't live without it. House phones to me are outdated and pointless. I'm never home to wait for a phone call, or even long enough to make one normally. Of course I have to make phones calls almost everyday and if there was some type of emergency I would prefer to have a phone, rather than have to find a pay phone. I can't imagine not having a cell phone but there are many, many occasion that I would love to throw the sucker in a lake or against a brick wall, or just run over it.
How could I hate my cell phone so much? Well, I have many reasons, to begin with, its oh so expensive. Part of this is my fault, because I text to I have to have unlimited text messaging which costs extra of course, I use the internet on my phone, extra again, and I sometimes, occasionally download ringtones. Even with all these charges I can sometimes afford it, but I recently ran into some very ridiculous charges on my bill that took 3 days to settle. Turns out, the computer system that the cell phone company uses was adding random charges to my bill, for not reason. It took 3 days and probably around 15 customer service representatives to figure this out. My bill skyrocketed from $100 per month to $500 out of nowhere. Of course I knew something was wrong.
It was a major pain to deal with, but I advise anyone who notices something strange on their bill to call customer service right away and not give up until you fully understand what has happened. When I called they continued to treat me like I was an idiot and gave me very vague answers as to what has happened to my bill. I continued to call them and get transferred from person to person because I was not understanding what was going on. Had I given up, I would not have a phone at all anymore, but I refused to give up. Finally I talked to a lady who went through three past months of bills and added up every single charged and looked at every tiny detail on the bills, and found out that there was a little glitch in the system that was overcharging me by $400. She then put a $400 credit on my account and gave me some bonus minutes that never expire. I wish all customer service reps were like her.
After that ordeal, my phone started to break, quit ringing half the time when people call, didn't receive every text, dropped almost every call I made and started turning itself off on its own. It still does this. I can't replace it because they tell me it got wet, which is of course what they tell everyone. I never dropped my phone in water, or poured anything on it, its stays perfectly dry in my purse or pocket at all times. I now have to wait another year until my contract is up so I can get a better phone.
It must be nice to be in the cell phone business these days.
