First Bullets
Grass grows from sky to sky
no mountains to block invaders
Are they going to get in?
Where are they going to land?
Dawn arrives to reveal the fields
to the enemy-a-coming
They smell the salt
carried in from the sea
it's burning my eyes
stinging my cheek
Our barrels point toward the shore;
clouds are building fast
I raise my scope and search
for the life I am to destroy;
bullets start as the General screams
and I see a boy fall to the ground
God will forgive us
but blood has invaded this land

Please, God, allow my feminine shoulders to bear
Worldly weights
