Terrorism

How did the United States become a target for terrorism?

How is it that the United States has become such a target for terrorists? This is a question that many people ask. The answer is really much more simple than people tend to think. There are many answers people will give for this answer, the war in Iraq, oil, our decadent lifestyle, and many other reasons. I tend to think that it boils down to one simple thing that has led to the many other complicated issues.

At the end of WWII, it was decided that, because of the holocaust in Germany, that there would be a homeland made for the worlds Jews. In essence, the nation of Israel was reborn out of the ashes of the gas chambers and placed in it's biblically historical location. The winners of the world war simply decreed it, and it was so. The spoils of victory, you might say.

The Arab nations in World war II had aligned themselves with Adolph Hitler with the promise that when Hitler won the war, the Muslim people would be given the entire middle east as a great Muslim state. They Aligned with Hitler because of mainly British colonialism that had been in control of many of their countries for many years. They saw this as an opportunity to lose the bands of British control.

Upon the loss of the war, and the victors creating the state of Israel, many were angered. Now what they perceived to be part of there land was now being given to infidels, a further insult to their beliefs as Muslims. In the Muslim fundamentalists eyes, this was something that could not be tolerated.

Immediately, the new nation was attacked by its Muslim neighbors. Had it not been for the financial and military support given to it by the western allies, chiefly the United States, Israel might not have been victorious. This immediately put us at odds with the Muslim people.

After a number of wars with other nations, it was becoming quite clear that Israel was not going to be defeated militarily by conventional means. As time went on, some countries, such as Egypt, began making peace with Israel and recognizing it as a sovereign nation. This was leaving the war against the state of Israel into the hands of the religious leaders and revolutionaries. These types of groups knew no borders and networked together in loose bands. The terrorist organization was born.

These terrorist organizations did not have the funding to put together regular armies, so they took the tactic of spreading fear through unsuspected individual attacks against civilian target, hoping they could scare populations and weaken the leaderships of those that supported Israel.

In this quest, they realized that the number one supporter of Israel was the United States, and therefore had to be a target for them. If they were to weaken the United States, or weaken the will of the US citizen's support for Israel, it would be able to more easily rid themselves of Israel's existence.

Over the years, our constant support of Israel has been the number one factor in why we are the target for terrorists. Were we not so closely tied to the Israelis in so many ways, we would not be a threat to these people in their quest to crush the tiny nation. All the other reasons people use to claim why the US is the target for terrorists is moot as the real and only main reason is that we are the main reason Israel was brought into being again, and the main reason it has stayed in existence over the last 40 years.
