Rain

Rain patters gently on the tin roof
As it soaks the soft forest floor
But I stand not under the tin roof
Dry and warm
Protected from the rain
I stand in the soaking rain
Letting it cool my body
But warm my soul
Small things move as the rain hits
Something bigger happens
Something indescribable
The world moves
Not the little things
The whole world
It changes and will never be the same
A rain so gentle
That does so much
What would a heavy rain do?
A light rain changes things
But only for a little while
A heavy rain changes things
But it's a drastic, permanent thing
It changes the land
Shaping it
Molding it
It washes away hills
It changes the direction of the waterways
It carries away trees
Pulling them their roots
And pushing them down the swollen current
A heavy rain can be drastic
A light rain is helpful
It stirs the soul of the earth
It stirs the soul of the animals
