Brief Introduction

Data is the buzzword in today's world of rapidly growing technological advancements, which is readily available at the click of the mouse. Looking at it for the first time, it may seem that the easy availability of data leaves no room for automation techniques, but as a matter of fact documentation process is clearly witnessing a sharp inclination towards automation. Though these automation techniques are already in place, and it would take some time before they could be accepted by the masses.

With the advent of technology, the automation has evolved in a short span of time, and is still evolving, with the core purpose of improving the quality of the content. As information is considered to be the core of any business, and is a valuable asset, it has to be treasured, structured [7] and made readily available to the end user. As the demand of Just in time' information is extensive and hence the supply has to be in pace with this demand accordingly. Since, most of the manual techniques have failed on these grounds, it calls for a more efficient and effective methods to fill the demand-supply' gap. This is where the automation techniques come into picture. Precisely speaking, the automation can be defined as,

"The art of making processes or machines self-acting or self-moving. Also pertains to the technique of making a device, machine, process or procedure more fully automatic." [1]

These techniques/tools/processes provide a collaborative environment wherein people located in different parts of the world could access the document from a central repository. However, the centralization of the database maintains the integrity of the document.

Automation techniques, effective and efficient in nature, are considered to be adaptive to handle large quantities of content, and this has led us to a new era of free online documentation.

Manual Vs Automated Technique

The traditional or manual mode of handling documentation is through the usage of text editors like spreadsheet and word documents. While these editors are effective in managing small or medium chunk of text, they are almost not suitable to handle large, voluminous quantities
