I glance across the distance, anticipating your arrival, I have waited for what it seems like an eternity for your return. I am apprehensive, yet calm, nervous, yet excited. It has been too long since I last saw you. I close my eyes, I can still see your features vividly as if you are right in front of me. I smell your sensuous smell that still lingers on my skin, the musk-scented cologne that you wore because you knew it drove me wild.I can still hear your voice, your laugh, a laughter that embodied your very essence, a laughter that made me smile.
I chuckle, I can not contain my excitement any longer.. "WHERE ARE YOU?AHHHHH!", I yell out of sheer frustration and impatience, excitement and disbelief. I hear only my voice echoing across the waters, lingering in the air eventually swallowed by the night. "Patience," I think to myself, but I can hardly contain my excitement. I breathe deeply, "I can do this!".
I can barely contain my eagerness, my excitement... I pace back and forth on the peer that overlooks the lake. The lake that is now highlighted with gold and orange reflections illuminating the ripples across the water as the sun sets beneath its murky beauty. I stop momentarily to look at my watch, "It's 7:00 pm, Where could you be?" Throwing my arms into the air, slowly I spin with the breeze that now encompasses my every movement. I hear a sound, "Is that you?", I proclaim once again into night's air as I stop spinning to glance over my shoulder; to my dismay, it is only the sound the leaves make as they wrestle with the wind.
The sun has faded beneath the now moon lit water, its golden reflection made its final exit. The darkness fades as the moon makes its appearance in the night sky, shining brilliantly, illuminating the earth.. The Moon's light now mingles with the water.
The fallen red, orange and yellow leaves, dance around me as the wind lifts them into the air with ease. There's a chill to the night air, "I knew I should of worn a sweater",I think to myself. I look up in wonderment, how truly beautiful the night sky is, I am caught in the moment, my stance firm, my arms folded, focused on the enchanted beauty of the night, focused on the glittering stars that adorn this beautiful evening celestial sky, I am awe-struck by their elegance as they glimmer with a spiritual presence. I am lost within the moment.
I close my eyes as I almost begin to cry, a sadness washes over me. "I miss you so, I can see you yet I can not feel your warm embrace." At that very moment, I feel your hand on my shoulder, I am overwhelmed with emotions, I am helpless, I can do nothing but cry as I fall to my knees... you help me to my feet, hold me, embrace me in your arms for what is seems like an eternity. "Never let me go..." I say to you.. You stare deeply into my eyes as you move your soft, gentle lips towards mine.. "I will never let you go.."
