NBA 2007-2008 season: Spotlight on the NBA's top scorers

and at the hoop. Similar to Bryant, Iverson also has the ability to change his shot in mid-air to avoid being blocked by defenders. For a player of his size, Iverson's uncanny ability to draw the foul and still finish the basket is almost unheard of. He does not have the best long-range jumper, but over the years, he has developed a very consistent mid and close-range jump shot.

Carmelo Anthony is not like any of the previous scorers mentioned. He does not have unmatched speed or amazing strength, nor does he possess the greatest jump-shot. Anthony combines all of these and when put together, you have a solid scorer who can hurt you in many ways and does not specialize in just one method of attack. Carmelo can get to the basket with relative ease because of his size and speed. He also possesses a solid short and mid-range jump shot, although his 3-point shot has become more consistent over the years. His knack for drawing the foul and getting to the free-throw line gets him a good portion of his points.

Amare Stoudemire is the fifth player on the list, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him move up on that list in the upcoming seasons. Unlike all of the players mentioned here, Amare is a post player and therefore, gets most of his baskets from in close. He possesses good speed for a player of his size, which allows him to spin around his defender for the easy basket. He is also a product of his point guard, Steve Nash. The two teammates have the pick-and-roll down to perfection, and when they get it going, it is almost impossible to stop. Unlike other finesse-type post players, Amare does not settle for mid-range shots when he cannot get inside position. Instead, he continues to maneuver until he can get around his opponent, which is the reasoning behind his high field goal percentage. He is also a very good free throw shooter and knows how to get to the line.

All of these players bring something different to the table, but the end result is the same. They all know how to play the offensive game and know how to capitalize off their strengths.
