~The Benefit of Christian Counseling for Teens-
Offering Them A Hope~
Christian counseling offers hope. Hope is one of the most important gifts is given to a troubled teenager. When all previous hope seems to be lost, new hope arrives like a cleansing rain to a heavy heart. In today's world, burdens arise from every corner in the alley of life. How sad it is when these burdens decide to pounce on teenagers when they are in the middle of establishing their identities. Maybe that is why Satan strikes at this very vulnerable time in our lives, because teenagers are vulnerable, confused, and easily swayed.
It is at this time in their lives, that teenagers need Christian counseling, support, and encouragement. Life is a battle against good and evil. How much would it benefit our teenagers if they were armed and ready to face the temptations of the world? I believe it would benefit them greatly. Read what the Bible has to say about arming ourselves to face the world.
"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your waist girded with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints."-Ephesians 5:10-18
If teenagers were taught this verse and taught how to apply it to their own lives maybe the fight against temptations would be easier. I believe that if teenagers had access to Christian counseling they could be taught such principles. However, the problem that we face is not what to teach them but how to get this valuable information to them. Society is a ruler of the darkness of this age and it does not want Christians providing hope and influence on the teenagers.
It is the obligation of Christians everywhere to accept all opportunities to reach out to teenagers. This is the time in their lives to offer them a hope they have never dreamed of hoping for. Teenagers can make it through this life a lot less scarred if only they could receive a little bit of Christian counseling.
