Toys to make kids smarter

If you honestly want a brilliant child, you need to cater to the growth of his or her imagination. The most brilliant minds in the world are creative and innovative, and have learned to combine artistic creativity with technical proficiency. You can spend hundreds of dollars on "educational toys," but when it comes to the heart of the matter, a child who can take some empty paper towel rolls, an empty cardboard box, some scissors, some glue, some paper, and a world of imagination, and create his or her own toy with which to play will undoubtedly be smarter than ten children (combined)raised on "educational toys."

In order for children to prosper as successfully productive members of society, they need key elements: creativity, adaptability, confidence, and respect. If they happen to pick up some academic intellect along the way, then that is great, but some of the most creative and innovative geniuses failed miserably at academics. If A child has the confidence to adapt to the world around him, and can creatively initiate change in a respectful manner, then he will be successful.

How do you teach a child these basic concepts? First, and foremost, you must teach your child. If you are relying on the schools to teach your child anything other than academics (reading, writing, arithmetic, science, and history), then you will be lucky if your child grows into an adult with these necessary qualities. Most adults endure some sort of seminar or counseling to learn these basics, and people like Gordon Graham (Seeds of Success 2000) are making tons of money from it. You must accept the responsibility for teaching your child to be a creative and independent thinker.

If you buy your child expensive toys instead of challenging him to entertain himself, he will always feel the need to have expensive toys / items instead of learning how to improve the stuff he already owns. You can't start off with a challenge, though. You have to teach your child to make toys at home, before you can expect him or her to think it up on his or her own. There are wonderful books in the library about easy to make toys at home. They cover everything from origami and paper airplanes to puppets and costumes. I once even read a book about making your own marbles from homemade clay. Not only do you stimulate your child's imagination, but you will save literally hundreds of dollars, if homemade toys become a common practice in your home.

A child who has never had to adapt to something new, will not develop
