Specsavers Monthly Disposable Lenses
I have been wearing contact lenses on and off now for just over a year and when I had my eye check done at Specsavers I thought it the easy option just to go with them for the monthly deal of them sending me out my lenses by post and then paying each month by direct debit.
I was wearing my glasses mainly for driving and watching the TV but I hated wearing them when I was going out for the night or even a days shopping I would feel self conscious when wearing them. I didn't wear my glasses all the time so I felt that the monthly option was by far the better choice.
Specsavers take a 10 debit from my account each month and for that price I get sent three sets of lenses three bottles of contact lens solution and a contact lens holder sent to my door every three months. This is very handy except for those times when I have not been at home and end up having to go down to the not so local post office distribution office to collect my parcel.
Now because I swap from using my contact lenses to wearing my glasses to wearing nothing at all sometimes I find that I can get away with keeping one set of lenses going for some times well over a month. I have therefore got a little stockpile of the lenses going and I think I am planning on cancelling the direct debit for a sort while.
Anyhow the use of the contact lenses themselves is very easy indeed. It did take me a short while to get used to the idea of putting the lenses in and taking them out but with a little practise this is now second nature. I did find that when I treated myself to some nail extensions that taking the lenses out was to say the least very difficult and really short nails are needed for putting in and taking out without the worry of scratching the eyeball.
At first I was forever breaking the lenses and thought that it was something to do with the lenses themselves but I do believe that you have to be very careful with these lenses as they are made up of mainly water so treat them with extreme care!
Cleaning the lenses is an easy task to do and the idea is to put on in the palm of the hand and drop some solution onto the lens and rub gently with the pad of the finger. The lenses are stored in the plastic lens holder over night, which also holds some of this solution as this prevents the lens from drying up.
I have forgot to take my lenses out one drunken night and wok in the morning to sheer panic when my vision was blurred due to the fact that one of the lenses had got lodged half way behind my eye ball and with a few tears and a bit of sheer panic the lens soon freed itself and I was able to dispose of the crumbled up lens.
I do believe that you can get the same amount of lenses and solution for a little cheaper price if you chose not to do the monthly payment option and I think because of my sporadic use of the lenses that I may opt out of this direct debit. However Specsavers have been no problems at all to deal with any my lenses have always arrived when they should.
I find contact lenses no problem o use at al and I believe the monthly option a much better deal rather than daily disposables. The cleaning is really no big hassle and the storage of the lenses is easy and practical.
I would recommend for people that use the daily disposables to give the monthly ones a try as the upkeep of them is not at all a problem and in the long run the cost is much cheaper.
