continued his steady rise up the ladder of Eastern conference low post players. Okafor started all 82 games placed 6th in rebounding and 10th in blocks. Okafor went for 13.8 points per game and 10.7 rebounds per game- one of 18 players to average a double-double for the year.
Jason Richardson brought high expectations from Golden state and did his best to deliver- raising his points per game 5 points to 21.8 and being the only Bobcat to average 20 points per game in franchise history. J-Rich was 12th in scoring the highest placement ever in franchise history. Richardon, like Okafor started all 82 games as well. Jason lead the NBA in 3 pointers and 4th all time in NBA history.
Gerald Wallace became a rich man in the off-season- and increased his scoring to 19.4 per game and averaged over 2 steals a game for the 3rd straight year, good for 5th in the NBA as well as bumped his assists almost a dime a game to 3.5. Wallace started 59 of the 62 games he played.
Raymond Felton rounds out the starting 5, and passed the departed Brevin knight as the franchises leader in assists on April second- Felton is an underrated point guard- coming in 7th in assists and 32nd in steals and 14.4 points per game.
The season started off well but the players and coaching staff never seemed to gel on the court or in the practice facility. When the Bobcats were on they were very good- knocking off the Lakers, Boston, Cleveland, Orlando, Utah, Denver as well as splitting 4 games with playoff teams Atlanta and Toronto.
The Bobcats ended the year with a winning 21-20 home record and a 32-50 overall record, 4th in the southwest and 12th in the east. Looking once more to the lottery, Jordan fired Sam Vincent his second firing of a one year rookie head coach as an NBA executive. Reports show that the Bobcats will start year 5 with a new coach- Hall of Famer Larry Brown and they have a 1.9 chance of getting the top pick. The Bobcats also have the 22nd pick in the draft due to an earlier trade- and if they fail to move up, as they did last year- they have good pieces and picks to make a move to try for the playoffs.
