We enter into this plane of physical existence with what might be referred to as an agenda that we have been working towards via previous experiences in previous incarnations and this agenda is expressed in the form of the environment that we enter into, along with our emotional, physical and mental equipment. It is within the period between incarnations that we most truly exercise our free will for it is then that we determine with the help of our guides, the conditions of our next physical lifetime. Throughout each incarnation our choices exist within the parameters that we set during the planning stage in relation to our past incarnational history.
Whether we get better or feel worse in relation to our trials and experiences, every such experience is a healing cycle in itself as it moves us through our distortion and even though at times we may move further into our distortion rather than moving through it or away from it , this simply makes our eventual surrender and emergence through healing more likely and the effects of it more profound.
In the end we have no choice over whether or not we heal...only over when we will surrender to the process. Our lives whilst incarnate are like a train on a track...the destination is set but we can decide when to stop, where to stop and for how long we will be stopping. We can decide that we will go backwards for a time if we want to but in the end the direction of our journey is fixed and our only real choice is when we will reach it.
Resisting healing is one of the few significant acts of free will that we have whilst incarnate and as long as we choose to resist our healing, the distortion or blockage that we have will grow, accruing more and more negative energy and more experience. Eventually, over a period of time which sometimes amounts to several lifetimes, the weight of the distortion forces a change simply by wearing us down, defeating us with our own obsession with money, property, power, fame, pride, vanity, our righteousness, victimisation or whatever else. Collapsing under the pressure of our obsession or illusion, we are restored to wholeness as we surrender in defeat.
