Poetry: Drinking

Jack and Jim went up to 'im
That needed a bottle of booze.
The bottles 'e clutched, but 'e drank too much
And then 'e started to snooze!
But Jack and Jim weren't done with 'im
And 'is vision they started to spin
Some water and ice felt very nice,
But the bottles had beckoned again!

So back 'e went, to the bottles half-spent,
And Johnny Walked up to make three.
Singing, 'e went, to water the plants,
And ended up hugging a tree.
When 'e came to, the night was half through,
And many moons grinned down at 'im.
'e wobbled about, and said with a shout,
"Bartender! ..Give me my three!"

Now his head's throbbing,
And his liver is sobbing,
And his eyes are still foggy with glee
But the bottles were done,
And he'd had his fun
And so help me if 'e ain't like me!
