Senator McCain: Not my choice for president

Why should John S. McCain NOT be president? Let me count the ways!

(1) Eight years ago, George W. Bush spent several months spreading vicious lies about John McCain. McCain was "the fag candidate," Bush repeatedly said. McCain's time as a prisoner of war had made him mentally unstable. McCain's temper was too explosive for the red telephone. McCain had allowed his wife to become addicted to drugs. McCain had fathered a bastard on a black prostitute. These smears and others like them won Bush the Republican nomination. McCain took about a year to think things over, and then he became Bush's most sycophantic butt-monkey. In 2008, most of McCain's platform can be summed up as "four more years of Bush."

I liked McCain just fine back when he was a MAN, but it's clear that though the Viet Cong could not break him, Bush could. What would McCain do against a COMPETENT enemy, like Putin? Turn into a Communist?

(2) "Four more years of Bush."

(2)(a) McCain has frequently given speeches that confuse Shi'ites and Sunnis, warring sects of Muslims. If he doesn't know the difference, he doesn't deserve to be a senator, much less president. If he DOES know the difference, why does he repeatedly pretend not to? To make Bush look smarter? (Ha!) McCain says he'd be comfortable with 100 or 10,000 more years of war in Iraq. He says we must not stop pouring lives, money, and resources down the Iraq drain without "victory," but like Bush he can't or won't tell the nation what victory would look like if it ever came near. How can we achieve what we can't envision?

(2)(b) Carter reduced the national debt. Reagan and Bush/41 close to tripled it. Bill Clinton reduced the national debt. Bush/43 will have single-handedly doubled the national debt. Three Republican presidents are responsible for more than 72 percent of the national debt — and if you count Nixon and Ford, five Republican presidents are responsible for 90 percent of the national debt!

Bush has been spending money like a drunken frat boy, lavishing huge tax gifts on wealthy "have-mores," hiding the true costs of two wars, handing out no-bid contracts to rapacious cronies, and borrowing money at a frightening rate from Saudi Arabia and China, neither one of which "loves freedom." The price of gas has tripled because of Bush's policies (though it doesn't hurt that both he and Cheney are oil men; if he'd been Colonel Sanders, the price of chicken would doubtless
