THE TIME CHANNEL
We met as strangers,
introduced through a friend.
Saying "Hello" and "Goodbye:
in passing each day.
A few months passed until we met again.
We met as acquaintances,
in the company of mutual friends.
We had conversations of jobs, familiar faces,
and how so many things change.
We met as friends,
and talked about how fast time goes by.
Sharing each others troubles
without ever questioning why.
We met as lovers,
two lonely people, insecure and running scared,
so hurt and unsure of everything around.
Keeping each other company,
giving comfort, strength, and understanding
only to say "Goodbye" again.
We are no longer strangers or acquaintances,
Yet, we're not quite lovers and not quite friends,
but it's so nice to see you again.
