I have learned that if you frequent yard sales in upscale neighborhoods that you can score even nicer stuff in excellent condition at a serious bargain. If you are not the type that drives around to seek out yard sales, then you should consider online resources such as Craigslist. Craigslist.org is an online local resource where you can buy and sell items for free. The stuff is usually listed at yard sale prices and you can even check out pictures before you respond to the seller.
SWAP EVENTS
In my area, the local "mothers of preschoolers" group holds an annual swap event. The only criteria for admission is that you bring used clothes to donate to the swap. You can then obtain items for your child for free, simply by trading with other moms. It is the perfect way to not only rid your closet of unused items, but still obtain some stuff for your children, without spending a dime. You should also consider online swapping resources such as swapbabygoods.com where you can swap clothing, baby items, shoes and other children's items, new or used.
Whatever you do, try to be financially creative. Never pay full price for anything, no matter how cute it may be. Just do some research, and keep your eyes peeled for coupons, deals and even free items.
Good Luck!
