Tips for balancing a busy life

How often do we complain that there never seems to be enough time in the world? The hours rush by, and we feel constantly frustrated that we have so little to show for our busy and hectic lifestyle. Worse, we often have to make personal compromises in life to be able to fit in all that we need to do on a daily basis.

So take a chill pill. Relax. And take a good look at how your life is organized and whether there are any areas which can be changed to improve the general quality of life of yourself and those around you. Having a positive attitude and good humor will go a long way in providing you with the essential motivation and energy to keep your life on an even keel, and to make the essential changes that in the long run will lead to psychological and physical harmony.

Part of ensuring a balanced lifestyle is making sure that you eat a good diet and you are getting plenty of rest. You are not going to be at your best or able to make well reasoned decisions if you are grouchy from lack of sleep or under the weather from not eating properly. Ensure that you start the day off with a good breakfast. This will ensure that the brain is receiving all the right kinds of nutrients to keep it working at peak condition.

Take a step back and write down a checklist of all your daily tasks and chores. Prioritize and streamline your daily schedule. Keep to a timetable so that you can free up extra pockets of time that will allow for unexpected events or relaxation times. Be flexible in your planning. Allow for the unexpected but don't be dominated by it. Stick to plan A, but have a plan B waiting in the background if need be. Use the task facility on your mobile phone to bleep a reminder about that essential appointment or birthday.

After you have prioritized, the next step is to simplify. Sometimes we can make things more difficult for ourselves because we have a tendency not to ask for help when we really need it, or we try to stick to unrealistic expectations.

Keep in touch with at least one good friend that you can confide in. It does your brain no good if you keep frustration bottled up. If you feel that things are getting on top of you, things don't seem so bad after you have shared your problems with a friend. Express your feelings and let go of tension. Accept help when it is offered. Accept that you have your faults and that we can't live in a prefect world.

Pressure can be a real killer. Not only can it have a detrimental affect on your health, it can affect the well
