The hustle and bustle of life sometimes leads us astray from opportunities and commitments that matter most in our lives and too often the real priorities are placed on hold. How many times in a day do you think a person might say, "In a minute," or "After I'm finished with this or that?" I'm most certain those statements hold true for a majority of individuals in this world.
Decisions and choices are what constitute priority in our lives. Poor decisions and choices can lead to weak prioritization. One cannot fathom the rare opportunities we are given or the amount of time, during our lifetime, we take for granted. Catastrophes are the eye openers that bring us in touch with ourselves. If only we would take time to realize the importance of our choices and the value our decisions hold, there might possibly be less chaos in this world.
Take a look at the young, unprepared teens who are parenting, today. Is it fair for the unborn child to enter this world if conception occurred due to irresponsibility and lack of protection? If a teenager, entering the adult world is already struggling to survive, is it fair to this baby that he or she might follow suit? Should we not be offering more lifestyle education to young teens; classes that express to them, the high chance for unfortunate consequences when making poor choices and decisions in life?
The older I become the more I realize the smallest of things we take for granted on a daily basis; such as the privileges we are given and the simplicities that make up our lives. I have witnessed divorced couples arguing over visitation rights with their children. I have witnessed fathers who have gone to battle in order to receive a fair amount of visitation time with their children. How can the legal system create a "visitation rights" schedule at all? These children belong to both parents; the parents have misunderstandings with each other, not with their children. This is such a misfortune for any parent fighting for rights to their child; especially after witnessing fathers and mothers who have been given open reigns to visitation time with their children, yet, these men and women choose to avoid their children all together. Can you imagine the disappointment in a child's eyes and mentally how they must feel when they learn that his or her parent chooses to exclude him or her from their life; a life that was created by that parent? There is clearly a need to consider who and what is taken for granted in situations like these.
Have you ever come face to face with families who have dealt with tragedy? Yesterday, their life seemed so normal, they didn't even consider what might be taken for granted or what could be lost tomorrow; then tomorrow comes and tragedy strikes. In an instant their lives are changed forever and looking back on yesterday, they are left with questioning; "If only I had done this or that."
"Take time, today, to realize your sacred surroundings, for tomorrow, it could change, forever!"
