Global warming has been affecting weather conditions for years. When there is tremendous change in temperature, it causes climatic change. The recent climate changes in all parts of the world had been caused by the global warming.
In the olden times when the earth was still free from all the pollutants, temperature has maintained an equilibrium. Although there are climate changes, it is not so drastic as today. Too much pollution has caused global warming that made weather conditions very unpredictable.
Disasters like earthquake, tidal waves, tsunamis, strong typhoons, great floods and erosion are devastating and affecting all parts of the world. In some places, animals and people are dying because of heat wave and in other parts of the world animals and people are freezing to death. And yet, as these are natural phenomena, we cannot control it. Even the most powerful countries like America is being affected with this problem. The recent devastation of New Orleans is one example. In some parts of the world, floods are wiping out houses and killing hundreds of people. Earthquake is toppling down buildings and properties and swallowing people alive.
Studies have predicted that many places near the sea coasts would soon be swallowed by the waters. And many places would soon be part of the vast water. Yet these problems cannot be stopped because it is caused by people themselves. The continuous logging and destruction of forests and the use of different kinds of chemicals is harming our environment and is causing global warming. Oxygen is becoming scarce substituted by carbon dioxide. If this continuous, time would come when people would have to buy bottled oxygen to breath.
For years, agricultural lands have been drying up because of lack of water. Food is becoming scarce because many agricultural lands are being turned into more profitable businesses such as housing sites and golf courses. There is shortage of rice in many parts of the world. This is one of the crisis that hit the world this year. Water is becoming scarce due to destruction of rain forests. In some parts of the world, they walk miles and miles to find water to drink.
The La Nina (too much rain that causes flood) and the El Nino (little rain that causes drought) are new terms that have been only recently heard.
Our ozone layer is becoming thinner and thinner and studies have proved that there is a hole in the ozone layer. This has caused the melting of the ice caps that is covering the earth's surface. This is the reason why the earth is becoming warmer and warmer. With this global warming happening on earth and is making lots of changes in climatic conditions, we still don't know what will happen to Mother Earth. The only thing I could suggest is everyone must help minimize our waste and we must plant trees.
