When I was learning to scrapbook over ten years ago; I learned a neat way to make stuff 3-d. I hope to be able to pass this way on to others. It's working with a bit of foam and lots or coloring and a steady hand. This is more for cards, not the flat laying pages. Although you can it for those, since some are not put in plastic pages but more put in a three ring binder.
This way involves using let over stamp foam. This is the foam that you can cut off when you mounted the stamps to the wooden block; that's if you chose the wooden mounting. I'm not sure but I think the rubber mounting ones don't have it. That it was meant to hold the stamp to the wood makes great adhesive for this, since we are just holding paper to paper.
I'll take you though step by step though the way I use. I decided that I want to make a birthday card. I got everything I needed at my table, now time to start. On the front of the card I'm going to put 3-D balloons.
I start by making the card just like I would normally. Then I grab a new sheet of paper just like the one I've used. Taking the stamp I had used for the balloons, and the same color. I do it again on the second sheet of paper. Then I cut it out. This might be hard for you need to crop it almost exactly how it's stamped.
I have saved all that extra foam now it's time to put it to use. Cutting off a small piece; then I peel off the paper one side of the foam. I will stick that on the balloons I just cut out. Now I'm going to peel off the other paper. Then place the balloons onto the other set, you need to do this perfectly. So you can't see the under balloons. Although you want the balloons under it so the image looks better.
I know this is only one of the many ways to go about doing it. I like it best it creates the look and uses left over stuff that most trash. I will admit I only paid less then half attention in all those meeting but I loved doing this aspect of it. This way is easy for even the newest scrapbooker, and as I've said before your using left overs; so you are also saving money. That's good for there are a lot of costs when you first starting out; and it doesn't help if your one of the many try and buy it all at one time.
