Using parental controls in Windows Vista

example, and choose "Everyone 10+", you'll child will be able to play all of the games except for those that are rated T for Teens, M for Mature and AO for Adults only. If you don't mind your child playing all but one of the games installed on your computer, you can choose to block or allow specific games and block the one you don't consider appropriate for your child.

~Allow Block Specific Programs
If you have a child that is only allowed to use Paint when they login, this feature of the parental controls allows you to block every other program. Click the option "Child Name can only use the programs I allow" and a list of programs available on your computer will populate the box below. This may take a few minutes, but once it appears, check the box next to Paint and click okay. The next time your child logs on to the computer, they'll only be able to use the Paint program.

The parental controls featured in Windows Vista can be used to make sure our children get their homework done before they start playing, keep our kids out of programs that if used wrong can damage our computer, and to keep our kids safe. By using these tools we teach our children that limitations are not bad things, but that limits are put in place for their safety and protection.
