TV show reviews: Life of Ryan

Ryan Sheckler, made famous by skateboarding, made infamous by MTV. Life of Ryan is a popular MTV reality based show. The show is centered around the life of a skateboarder, and shows what it takes to be great. There are so pointless parts about girls, but hey, it is just part of growing up. The show features, Ryan, Shane, Kane, Taylor, Casey, Tony, Mitch, Gretchen, and Randy.

First, let's look at the family. Ryan, Shane, Kane, Gretchen and Randy, make up the dysfunctional Sheckler family. Ryan is the oldest, then Shane, and the youngest is Kane. Gretchen and Randy are divorced however; they both play big parts in Ryan's life. Gretchen not only is his mom, but also his manager. She attends every event and still manages to take care of all three boys. Randy and Ryan have had their problems, but a dad is still a dad and Randy certainly is trying.

As far as the friends go, there is, Taylor, Casey, Tony and Mitch. There isn't much known about these young kids because they are just the friends of Ryan Sheckler. But they are there for him when he needs a friend to talk to. The teen problems in the show prove to the watcher that the people they look up to are human and have flaws.

This show, I feel, is good for the younger audience to see how hard it really is to be famous from extreme sports. You see the toil it has on a young person's social life and academic life. It makes kids that are interested in skateboarding, think about if it really is worth it. The kids do get to see the glamorous side of it, the cars, and toys, and expensive gifts, but they also get to see Ryan Sheckler brake down under the pressure. On more then one occasion Ryan has been brought to tears by the stress that every one puts him.

There are some parts of the show we can do with out. Taylor and Casey fighting, who cares but, these little things make the show work. They make the show appealing to both teenage boys and girls. The skateboarding gets the boys and the drama gets the girls.

In the end, the show is good for demonstrating the ambition you must have to be a pro skater. It also shows that no matter how much money you have life still happens, bad things are inevitable but it is how you deal with those things that determine how you come out the other side. Ryan Sheckler is a great example of going for your dreams and not letting the small things in your way.
