Eddie Guerrero was, easily said, really talented. As a wrestler, he could captivate a crowd, get them into it, he could just make people cheer him or boo him, and just play with them all he wanted.
He could single handedly take you into the palm of his hands during an interview, make you love him, then completely twist it around and make you say "what a jerk!". He was so talented and so passionate about the business. A good wrestler and a good entertainer, which is somewhat rare to have in a professional wrestler these days, usually you only see one or the other, if not neither.
I saw Eddie in 2003 at a Smackdown event here in my home city, and in the parking lot when they were all leaving, he was one of the few guys to stop and shake hands, get pictures, sign autographs and talk with some fans before heading out to the next show. I thought that was really classy, and being true to your fans is something that will always be remembered about Eddie Guerrero.
I have been a wrestling fan practically my whole entire life, and I have watched Eddie evolve from day one. I first saw him on a japanese wrestling show when I was about 5 or 6, and how I remember that is because it was just so unique and different, I saw a tag team of Eddie and Art Barr, who are both deceased now, and the thing about that match was it was older then I was. So as time grew on, I was able to pick up an ECW stream on my television when I was around 7 or 8, and I saw this brutal, hardcore in your face wrestling and thought "wow!" because at the time all I really had was the musclehead stars of WWF and WCW. Again, this program was also a few years old.
I was watching this program, and I saw this guy come out with a title belt, later learned it was the ECW TV title, and he put on a hell of a match with I think it was either Dean Malenko or 2 Cold Scorpio, it might have even been a tag team match, but I just saw this guy and I was like "whats he doing here, hes not hardcore." Then as the match went and I watched on, I was baffled by these pure wrestlers in this hardcore company. I saw him wrestle in the stars and stripes tights he was wearing, and I didn't know his name at the time, so I always just spotted him out by that. Thats how I first noticed Eddie Guerrero.
I still remember watching that match for the first time and and then a few days later it came to my attention that he was the guy I saw in that japanese wrestling show my dad was watching, and it clicked. I
