The Internet & music: How the Internet is restoring the relationship between the composer, the musician and the audience

The Internet, The Music & The Passion

In this article, you will get thrown right into the heart of the Music Industry, feet first! In this home-made version of the Music Bible, you will start to realize just how far our society has come along in the Music Industry. You will also gain a new found respect for the Industry, the musicians composers and the Internet...IN A PERFECT WORLD THAT IS!

The world revolves around relationships. Parents with their children, friends and even lovers. The music Industry is no exception. The relationship between composer and musician is a heavy one. The Internet came into the picture decades later, but still holds one of the tightest bonds between musicians, composers, publishers and fans.

Before Internet, musicians had to rely on strictly talent and man-power. Today they rely on the Internet, my-space friends and several on-line retailers of down-loadable music. Call us lazy, but the average American has a full plate. There are kids to drive around, bills to pay, shopping to do and emails to answer. Let's face it, now we are in the age of the wide world of web! The land of musical opportunities.

This does not mean that work is not required, but the Internet has made it much simpler. Composers can now post ads on numerous Internet sites, Publishers can advertise their expertise through My-space and other well known Internet sites and musicians can pimp out their talent and skills to all the above, on the Internet.

Long gone are the days of Rock N' Roll Legends, dressed in white sequined suits making an appearance on every radio station on earth. Now their are tiny things called gigabytes and tech-savvy hard drives to do the job for you.

Producers, Agents and Booking Rats are a thing of the past, these days. Now you can surf the web, download great music, send out your videos, mp3's and even lyrics via the Internet. Craigslist is huge for this sort of marketing and promoting, That guy "Craig" is probably a billionaire by now! I would not mind owning a small percentage of stock on his "list".

So many people think My-Space, Face-book and Diggit are for the lost youth of today. Not so Joe! Musicians can build free databases (if you will) of their past present and future gigs. Composers can promote their skills and Producers can hunt for the latest craze in the music scene, with just a simple click of the mouse.

Now, of course their are those of us who just have a real strong desire to keep technology out of the music biz, hold onto our "old-school" way of making great music, but guess what? We are starving people! Our information highway has now become our musical highway as well. Today has become a whole new world for the music industry.
