SITTING AT THE WRONG CAMP
Alice was so sure that Eddy loves her dearly. They share many things in common: both are Capricorn. Both enjoy Music and Outdoors, same race, same profession, same everything. They are made for each other. Both family and friends agree. They already share job schedules, hobbies and vacations. Soon, very soon, wedding bells will ring. Indeed, plans like the number of children, permanent home locations, retirement age, life ambitions and ecstasies are already in place. Perfect match! Alice already moved in with Eddy to make wedding preparations easier. All, against parents' approval, of course. But who cares?
That Friday evening, after a grueling students' final rehearsal of "Hamlet" for the coming Parents/Teachers' Association party, Alice slumped into their loveseat, crashing into Eddy. Eddy moved away without smiling.
"You already had your dinner? Alice asked.
"Sorry. I was starving." Eddie said.
"Me too."
Eddy was unusually quiet but Alice didn't notice. Alice was madly in love. People in God's Paradise couldn't be happier than Alice sharing that black loveseat with Eddy. She gobbled down her roast beef and baked potatoes so she could snuggle closer to Eddy. She capped her dinner with a glass of cold water that Eddy filled for her.
"This water tastes nasty! It's chilly here!" Alice said. "Honey, do you feel cold?"
"Nope, do you want the thermostat up?"
"I feel. nauseous." Alice said moving closer to Eddy.
"You do? I have headache too."
"I have to use the bathroom." Alice got up and rushed to the bathroom. Soon she was retching violently. Eddy held his head with both hands. Twenty minutes later, Alice staggered towards Eddy, "Quick, darling, make me an oral drip. I've been throwing up since I left you."
"Really?" Eddy made a move to stand up but sat down again, holding his head with both hands.
Alice hurried back to the bathroom and retched again and again
"Oral drip! Oral drip! Darling, please, hurry!" Eddy sat where he was, holding his head. In the bathroom, Alice collected warm water with the plastic bowl on the wash hand basin. She groped for salt in the kitchen shelf, getting several handfuls and throwing them into the bowl of water. She drank several bowls of the concoction before she passed out.
At noon the next day, Alice woke up in a hospital. She saw her younger sister, Elma, standing at the foot of her bed crying. The nurse ran out to bring the doctor.
"How are you, sweetie?" The doctor said with a grievous tone.
"Fine. Doctor, what happened?
