Body and soul connected

by Tru Leigh Martin

Created on: April 28, 2008

Are the body and soul connected? Or can we say are our bodies, minds and souls connected. In a way they are connected since there is only one external appearance that a man's eye can see. A way to help understand the connection between body and soul here is a little analogy.

Our bodies are like vehicles. Some are big like SUV's and some are small like Compact cars. Some are new and some are old. Some are garage kept in mint condition, some are rebuilt, and some are dirty old and rusty with chipped paint and faded color dented, and some are just left in junk yards for people to pick at. Some are beautiful and adorned with leather and lights and gadgets. Some are the envy of others, some are special made, some are classics.

Our mind is like the chauffeur. It takes us on a journey, takes to wherever we need. Sometimes they have road rage and get upset. It may get sad when something happens to it's vehicle. The chauffer may be kind and benevolent and stop for pedestrians. It may drive us to church, school, home or to the store. The chauffeur's job is to get you where you need to be.

But we must remember that we are not the vehicle (our bodies) and we are not the chauffeur (our minds). We are the soul that is being transported through this life. It is not the chauffeur (mind) who decides where we are to go or who we are, and it is not the vehicle that we are in, that defines us. We are the soul. The boss of the chauffeur(mind) the keeper of the vehicle (body). And until we know our souls, we will be unable to tell the chauffeur where we need to go and what it is we are supposed to do.

It is also very important for us to take care of our vehicles and not let the chauffeur drive out of control. If we keep your vehicles clean on the outside, spotless on the inside, and take care of all of our parts our vehicles will last us a full life. But if we disregard our vehicles they will decay at a much faster rate. Also if we let the chauffeur be out of control, drink and drive, do drugs, or let the chauffeur have road rage, anger, and jealousy, the chauffeur will cause damage to the vehicle in which it drives.

So body and soul are connected, since the soul (life) needs a vehicle to get it to where it needs to be. Where that place is, that is the mystery of life. But with out a body the Soul (life) would have no home and with out the Soul (Life) the body would not exist or need to exist.
